5/19 Stable to Pickerel Inn 14.7.55 II*
An ornate late C16 stable block standing in the yard behind the Pickerel Inn. 2 storeys. Brick ground floor, whitewashed across front, jettied, timber-framed upper floor with herringbone-pattern brick nogging and short tension braces. Crow-stepped gable ends with moulded brick corbels at first floor. Weatherboarded upper part of rear wall. Plaintiled roof. Wide central doorway with 4-centred arch: large C20 garage doors on right. On upper floor, one blocked original window and two later doorways. Of. the late 016/early C17 stable block to Blythburgh Lodge (listed as item 14/59), which has a similar, even more lavish treatment.
