Details
GRUNDISBURGH WOODBRIDGE ROAD TM 25 SW (East side) 2/98 16/3/66 Finndale House GV II House. Early C19 with C20 additions and alterations. Yellow, Flemish bond brick with a slate roof and colourwashed and tile faced brick with a pantile roof. Two storeys. L-shaped plan. Entrance front: 5 bays symmetrically disposed. To the first floor are 5 windows of 3 x 4 panes with cambered heads, the central one being slightly recessed with a cambered relieving arch. Band of 3 bricks depth below the plain parapet which has an ashlar coping. To the ground floor is a central doorway with 6 panels, the lower two flush and the upper 4 glazed. Strip lights to either side with glazing in the form of a row of circles. Segmental fanlight with decorative tracery. The door is approached by a flight of ashlar steps which have a cast iron balustrade, and there is a semi- circular canopy over the door supported by similarly moulded iron pillars and with hollow, cast iron acroteria to the edge. To either side of the door are large rectangular bay windows of late C19/early C20 with 6 casement lights to their fronts and 2 lights to each side. To the rear is a lower 2-storey gabled wing projecting at right.
Interior: Entrance hall, floor of black and white diamond-shaped flags. Door surrounds with ribbed side panels and lintels and roundels to the upper corners. Staircase of 2 flights with a half-landing, stick balusters with moulded mahogany handrail ramped at the top and wreathed curtail with circular iron newel. Groin vaulted ceiling above with a central boss.
