8/42 The Old Rectory (previously 25.10.51 listed as Rectory)
GV II
Former rectory, now private house. Early C17 core with earlier work at rear; late C18 facade and right hand cross wing; various later extensions. L shape plan. Timber framed and plastered, the main range extended at the left hand end in colourwashed brick; plaintiled roof. 2 storeys with attic to cross wing. 4 windows to main range, inset sashes with glazing bars, to the left hand side a gabled extension set forward with sash windows in flush frames; doorway with C19 threequarter-glazed double doors; mid C20 French windows. To the right hand side a 3-storey bowed front to the cross wing, the original sash windows replaced by casements c.1975; the front portion of the cross wing has a plaster cove eaves cornice and mansard roof. Good late C18 staircase; 2 ground floor rooms in cross wing have plaster cornices and one has a good marble fireplace.
