Gateway to Moat Hall. Early C16. Red brick with diaper work in
dark headers, some stone to jambs of arch. Narrow 4-centre arch;
to each side is a niche containing a stone figure of a Wild Man
or woodwose, now in poor condition; crenellated parapet with
brick coping. Attached to the north is a 40m length of walling
enclosing the moat, now much weathered; attached to the south a
short length of brick wall with some random flint and stone.
Extending to the west is a 30m length of early C16 red brick
walling with diaper work, c. 3m high, English bond; built against
the wall at the west end is a small early C19 outbuilding
incorporating much re-used stonework.
