CHARSFIELD THE STREET TL 96 SW 5/12 The Thatch - GV II

House. C16 or C17. Timber framed with colourwashed render and thatched roof. Two storeys. Road front: doorway at right of centre with a C20 plank door. Gabled C20 porch in front with a cement plinth. To right is a 3-light ground floor window and to left are two further 3-light C19 casements. To the first floor are two 3-light and one 2-light casements. To the ridge at left of centre is a single-flue stack of C20 brick and the thatched roof has a decorative ridge of sedge which slopes up at either end. Slightly recessed at right is a C20 single-storey addition. Similar addition at left. Left hand gable end: 2-light casement to right of the addition. Two-light first window and 2-light attic casement. Rear: lean- to at ground floor left with a 4-light casement and to right of this French windows and at far right a 3-light and a single-light casement. To the first floor at right is a 3-light casement and at left two 2-light gabled dormers. Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams to ground floor with stepped lamb's tongue stops and plain joists. One further room with joists. Massive chimney stack with bressumer beams.
