House. C16, extended and divided into 2 cottages in early C19. 2 storeys.
Timber-framed and rendered; black glazed pantiles; plain barge-boards. An
internal chimney-stack with a rebuilt red brick shaft: 2 square chimneys set
diamond-wise with corbelled bases and caps. 3-light casement windows, with a
single horizontal bar to the upper storeys and with 2 horizontal bars to the
ground storey. 2 enclosed gabled porches. The original house was of 4 bays,
including a narrow bay for the chimney and entry: good, plain framing exposed
inside, unchamfered joists set flat, reversed braces at the angles, blocked
diamond-mullioned windows with mullions in situ; roof inaccessible. A 5th bay
was added in early C19, and the house divided into 2 on the line of the
chimney-stack, with a studded partition wall added to divide the former 2-bay
room to the east of the stack into a living-room and kitchen.
