4/367 Home Farm House 10.10.75. and Barns. (Formerly listed as Model Farm)

GV II*

Model farm. c1860 by Charles Buxton of Foxvarren Park, assisted by Frederick Barnes. Diaper patterned brick with plain tiled roofs to cottage, Roman tiled roofs to farm buildings. Farm buildings arranged around 3 sides of a rectangular court with the cottage to the south east and a pavilion to the north west. Cottage: Rectangular, with lower section to rear. Crowstepped gables to ends and large stack to west side. 2 storeys to front, divided by sawtooth brick band. I storey and attic with bargeboarded gable dormer to right. 3-light window to first floor of main front with 5-light window on ground floor. Planked door to right under gabled porch with curved bargeboards . Right hand return front has single- storey gable front with curved bargeboards and spike finial. Pavilion to north west: 2 storeys with crow-stepped gables, large star shaped stack to west side and corbelled sawtooth band over ground floor. 7 ventilation slits in triangular fenestration in the gables, 6 arched panels below. Farm ranges between are single storey with brick arcading and corbelled sawtooth band to eaves. Triple gables to east and north ranges with curved bargeboards and spike finials.
