TQ 05SE EAST HORSLEY C.P. EPSOM ROAD
5/35 Guildford Lodge, 14/6/67 including Horsley Gallery (Formerly listed as Guildford Lodge) GV II Lodge now part gallery and office. Circa 1860 by the First Earl of Lovelace. Random brick rubble with red and blue brick dressings, terracotta decoration to upper storeys. Conical plain tiled roofs to towers under ribbed lead tops. Central carriage archway with room over flanked by circular towers; curving end entrance walls, 4 stage towers with tiled pentice course over bottom stage, machiciolated, oval lozenge panel band to first stage, quilloche and terracotta plaques over arcade on second stage and machicolocationsto top stage. Casement fenestration, with one oval light to ground and first stages, arched windows in second stage in roll-moulded brick surrounds; Trefoil head lancets to top stage in complicated, deep, brick surrounds, some tile as edge finishing. Cambered head casement to centre of first floor under balustrade, over arched, rib-vaulted, through-way with windows on inner side. Curving quadrant wing to front left with slate roof, cambered head windows, one with splay sides. Gallery extension to left with half glazed door, further door to rear of right hand return front.
