SU 99 49SW GUILDFORD MOUNT PLEASANT (West Side) 7/154 Horncastle 1/5/53
GV II House. Late C18 on older, possibly C16, core. Red brick with plain tiled roof, partly obscured by stone-coped parapet. Three storeys with brick dentil eaves and end stacks, that to right star-shaped and part rebuilt. Three windowed front with painted wood oriel windows to outer bays of second floor, under modillioned cornices, and with round-arched, glazing-bar sash fenestration. Centre window on second floor in architrave surround and with corbel brackets below. One tripartite glazing-bar sash window to outer ends of first floor with reeded mullions. Central casement doors in Doric pilaster surround with pentice over to first floor. Flat- roofed projecting ground floor clad in colourwashed render. Original, widely spaced, tripartite glazing-bar sash windows with Doric pilaster mullions to outer ends, that to right now blocked. Central recess with ¾-glazed double doors under overlights with diamond patterning on door panels. C19 iron railings above across first floor of honeysuckle and anthemion pattern with square end newels.
