2. House built at 4 different periods, in 2 parallel ranges. C18 front of 2 storeys, 3 windows. Hipped tiled roof with swept eaves now made square over the whole house. Snecked squared rubble of Merstham chalk, red brick quoins, dressings, 1st floor band. Round headed 1st floor windows, cross casements. 3-light casements under segmental brick arches below. C19 wood porch. Barn attached to north end, largely rebuilt. Rear elevation shows older parts. At north end a late mediaeval timber framed part, walls now faced with a mixture of large stone blocks, small rubble and flints. Once an open hall:- floor has been inserted above ground floor plate level. Next section is of C17, probably inserted to replace a destroyed part of the older house; also timber framed, small square framing, refaced mostly in flint. At left a C16 cross wing with similar exterior but inside is timber work of very high quality with richly-moulded beams and stout, close-set chamfered joists.
