House, now two commercial premises. Probably late C16 with probably late C17 and C18 additions, late C19 cladding and later C20 alterations. Timber frame with brick underbuilding and tile cladding with decorative bands of fishscale tiles; plain tile roofs. 2 storeys, rear section with attic. 2-bay timber-framed section, gable end to road, the rear bay added probably late C17; wider bay added to rear, projecting at either side; late C19 porch added on right in the angle. A stair dormer added to right side of front range and mid-late C20 1-storey office added to right (not of special interest). C20 shop window, two windows with architraves above; hipped roof. Porch on right has panelled door, the upper pointed-arched panels glazed. Left return: on right, C20 glass door under C19 bracketed, pent roof, C20 window above. On left is truncated chimney with some stone quoins and old brick at base, but brickwork mostly renewed. Interior: timber framing of 2 front bays visible, mortices in the soffits of the cross- beams between the 2 bays indicating existence of former walling, the first floor and first floor ceiling possible insertions; pointed-arched light and tension brace in left wall of rear bay; roof partially visible having queen post truss at rear end, square-section rafters and mind braces. The chimney has a large fireplace with timber surround on ground floor, the bressumer with sawn-off ends of former projecting timbers (probably suporting coving); on 1st floor, fireplace with stone surround and moulded architrave with shallow Tudor arch on plinths: round floor has old board door under stairs (up to 1st floor premises) and rear wall of rubblestone with reused nail-studded cross-fLy board door into C19 brick, sorrel-vaulted chamber (probably safe).
