ASHTEAD FARM LANE TQ 1858-1958 (east side, off) 7/29 Ice house in grounds of Marsden Nurseries, approx. 140 metres north-east of Ashtead House

Ice house. C18; restored. Handmade brick. Egg-shaped vessel mostly under ground, with domed roof (of headers only) and low surrounding wall, doorway in north-east quadrant, flanked by short low splayed walls (slightly damaged). Structure now exposed but presumably formerly covered with earth. Interior infilled to slightly below ground level. Probably constructed to serve Ashtead House (q.v.).
