7.9.51 Barn approx. 50 metres south-east of Sheepbell Farmhouse GV II
Barn, now store. Dated 1825 on tie-beam; slightly altered. Timber frame on brick plinth, with weather-board cladding, red tile roof. Rectangular 7-bay plan on east-west axis, aisled on the south side; central opposed wagon entrances, that on the south side with an arch-braced portal under a hipped roof, embraced on each side by low aisles under catslide roofs, that to the left with 3 doorways and 3 low windows, that to the right with a stable door flanked by small windows (right-hand end covered by attached pig-house). Half-hipped roof. Rear wall has sliding door to wagon entrance, and an inserted doorway to the left. Interior: post-and-truss structure of softwood, with carpenter's marks; angle- braces pegged to the tie-beams, and added horizontal braces; queen-strut roof with renewed rafters; tie-beam on left of centre inscribed "D L 1825"; loft added at west end, and an inserted breeze-block partition.
