2. Forms a block with No 77 Castle Street; this is linked at the east end to the Bailiffs' Hall (No 6 Town Hall Buildings, qv). 2 storeys. Free C18 style with open arcaded ground floor treatment and upper parts of brick. Nos 1 and 2:- 4 bays. 3 4-light dormer casements. Heavy modillion eaves cornice. On ground floor, arcade of Corinthian columns in antis; entablature; large plain rectangular coffers in arcade soffit. No 3:- 3 window bays. One 4-light dormer casement. Enriched coved plaster cornice. On ground floor, arcade of 3 round-headed openings supported on Doric columns; groined vaulting to soffit. Nos 4 and 5:- 3 bays. lst floor recessed behind balustrades parapet of ground floor arcade. Centre lst floor opening has a shell-headed canopy supported on 2 pairs of ornate cut scroll brackets, with a narrow section of balustrading above, immediately below eaves. Segmental headed windows to either side. Ground floor arcade of Ionic columns with pediment and balustraded parapet. In soffit of arcade, C17 style panelling with motifs of fruit and flowers.
Nos 1 to 9 (consec) (including No 1A), and Nos 1 to 6 Town Hall Buildings (The Borough), Nos 1 and 77 Castle Street, the listed buildings from Nos 108 to 122 (consec) West Street, all form a group.
