GODALMING BRIDGE STREET SU 9744 SW 11/23 Town Bridge (formerly listed as Godalming Bridge) 23.2.70 GV II
Bridge over River Wey. 1782 by Mr Gwilt, widened 1930 (Godalming Walk, pl). Red brick with ashlar dressings. Five shallow round arches with shallow, triangular, ashlar cut-waters; two semi-circular pedestrian retreats on pendant ashlar bases flanking central, corniced, ashlar plaque (illegible); blind oculi between outer arches; ashlar band with moulded cornice; parapet with flat ashlar coping; end pilasters surmounted by C20 iron lamp-standards with decorative braces, the northern lantern removed. Side walls slope down to end piers. A Godalming Walk (Reprinted 1988).
