Shop and house, early C18 with mid C19 front; C20 alterations. Red-brown brick. Roof obscured behind parapet, but appears reduced in height at front; gable at rear survives. Stack to rear, right. 3 storeys, one bay. Ground-floor C20 shop front and fascia. First-floor tripartite window in stuccoed architrave with small central pediment. 2nd-storey tripartite window, also in stuccoed architrave, the feet of which rest on plain brick storey band. INTERIOR: not inspected. No.53 forms a group with No.55 (qv).
