GV II
Almshouses. c1840. Brick in Flemish bond. Roof of slate. Gauged brick to openings and brick stacks. PLAN: the centre range of a U-shaped group with the open side to the east. EXTERIOR: tripartite composition of 2 storeys, with recessed 6-window range wings to either side of 3-window range centrepiece. All openings have segmental pointed arches, windows and overlights with Gothick glazing bars. High plain parapet over centre; lower moulded parapet to the side wings. 5 units, each with a door in the centre, and 3 windows each; the window above each entrance of 2 lights, the rest of 3. Stacks to returns and party walls. INTERIOR: not inspected. Forms a strong group with the North and South Ranges (qqv).
