II

Offices and shop. c1903-1904. By Arthur Keen. Red brick with
Portland stone dressings and black brick chequerwork under a
slate mansard roof with gable stacks and pots. Granite ground
floor. Modified Jacobean style.
6 storeys. Double-fronted with 3 window bays. Ground floor
with arched entrances to either side with 3 bay C20 shopfront.
Cornice above. Two outer bays of stone, projecting and rising
through 1st to 3rd floor levels with pediments and enriched
window aprons. 1st floor centre bay of stone with enriched
panels, 2nd and 3rd floor brick with stone dressed windows.
1st to 3rd floor windows metal. 4th floor brick with sashes.
Main dentil cornice at 5th storey level. Above, a brick Dutch
gable with 3 segmental-headed sashes flanked by seated stone
figures of Edward VII and Edward I.
