868-0/10/10140 Stable Block to Tregrehan House
GV II
Former stable block, now converted, and associated mounting block. 1836 datestone for William Carlyon. Red local rubble with dressed granite plinth, quoins, mid-floor string and rusticated pilasters flanking central bay with flat granite arch, ashlar mounting block; rag slate roof with central pediment with freestone dressings over a freestone arch. Rectangular plan with former stables at either end and central former carriage bay, plus single-storey extension at the right-hand end with mounting block in front. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2:1 :2-bayfront. Round arches over original hornless sashes with glazing bars and spoked fanlight heads to ground floor; 2-light casements to 1st floor; mid-floor string. Central bay is broken forward and has triangular pediment on pilasters. Below the pediment is a round arch framing a recessed tympanum with central casement window within a freestone surround, the tympanum carried on a flat arch. INTERIOR not inspected. Part of an important group of buildings relating to Tregrehan House (qv).
