Villa. c1850-54, by John Aughton; slightly altered.
White-painted stucco, slate roofs.
PLAN: irregular cruciform plan formed by a single-depth main
range at right-angles to the street, with side wings close to
the front end.
EXTERIOR: 2 and 3 storeys; 3-window range. Almost symmetrical
composition with a projected 3-storey gabled centre flanked by
set-back 2-storey wings, plus a porch in the left angle; with
first-floor sill bands to all 3 portions and rusticated quoins
to the centre and left wing. The centre has a canted bay
window at ground floor, with pilasters, dentilled and
modillioned cornice and unhorned 1/1 and 2/2 sashes, and on
each upper floor an unhorned 2/2 sashed window with shouldered
architrave.
To the left is a rectangular flat-roofed porch which has
round-headed open arches to the front and left, with imposts
and keystones, and other features like those of the bay
window.
The side wings each have one 2/2 sashed window on each floor,
all like those of the centre except that at first floor to the
right which now lacks the architrave.
Gabled single-storey addition at left end.
Tall corniced chimneys to right-hand side of main range.
Right-hand return wall of right wing has canted bay window
like that at the front.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with No.4 to the left (qv), which is its reflected
pair.
