Row of 4 houses, now 3. Dated 1737 inside No.3; altered.
Render (probably on brick), painted white except No.4; slate
roof with red ridge tiles and brick chimneys. Single-depth
linear plan of 5 bays in all, of which No.1 now occupies 3
bays (incorporating the former No.2).
EXTERIOR: single storey; 7-window range, the windows arranged
2:2:3. No.1 (the right-hand half) has an added gabled porch
off-set right, 2 3-light sliding sash windows to the left and
one to the right.
No.3 has a C20 flat-roofed porch at the junction and 2 altered
and enlarged windows to the left.
No.4 to the left of this has a shallow gabled porch at the
left end and 2 segmental-headed 2-light casement windows.
Gable chimney to left at No.4, 2 ridge chimneys (at junction
of Nos 1 & 3, and at former junction within No.1).
Rear: No.1 has 2 3-light sliding sash windows and a C20
flat-roofed extension; No.3 has a C20 outshut; No.4 has an
outshut with 2 3-light sliding sash windows containing early
C20 stained glass.
INTERIOR: No.3 has a spine beam on a corbel inscribed: 1737.
Recognisable examples of a type of dwelling formerly
characteristic of this locality, and particularly valuable in
view of the recorded date.
Forms group with First Cottage and Second Cottage, Croston's
Brow (qv).
