Formerly known as: Garrick Theatre LORD STREET.
Theatre, now bingo club, with shops at ground floor. 1932, altered. By George Tonge. Brown brick with dressings of Portland stone and concrete (roof concealed but probably asphalt). Art Deco style. Large rectangular plan on corner site.
EXTERIOR: approx. 4 storeys; 5:5:5 windows in an almost symmetrical composition consisting essentially of a main range with broad projecting wings though these are linked by a 2-storey range surmounted by an open 5-bay colonnade. The ground floor has altered shop fronts protected by a flat cantilevered canopy. Above this level the central 5-window range has tall windows with deep stilted and tapered heads, and carries an open colonnade of Portland stone with coupled columns and plain entablature with moulded cornice, and in each bay a parapet of carved panels, that in the centre displaying the masks of Comedy and Tragedy. The wings are much taller, each with a raised centre and stepped parapet, and windows grouped 1:3:1; small rectangular windows at first floor and very tall ones above these shaped like those of the main range but horizontally divided by bands of Art Deco chevron, and those in the centre designed as stepped triplets with metal balconies. All windows retain Art Deco metal frames and stained glass. Curved corner to the right with 3 fluted pilasters diminishing from floor to floor. Right-hand return in similar style.

INTERIOR: altered by removal of stage and raked seating, but retains original proscenium arch with Art Deco open-work surround, boxes with chromium decoration, painted friezes etc.
