Terraced houses, now flats and commercial premises. Early to
mid C19. Stucco. Roof to No.21 parapeted, to No.22 hipped and
of slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement. No.21 2-window range and
No.22 one-window range. No.21 has shop front from late C19 or
early C20 much rebuilt; through passage to left party wall.
Shop to No.22 bears remnants of late C19 front. Above the
through passage of No.21 a blank, full-height wall. The main
elevation projects slightly in front of this short wall and is
articulated by corner quoins. The first-floor windows have
projecting sills and architrave, each with a floating cornice
supported by a pair of console brackets. Sills of second-floor
windows level with top fascia of the cornice to the
first-floor windows; these windows have architraves as well.
All windows are flat arched. Entablature over main section
only. Next to each party walls of No.22, is a giant fluted
pilaster to the first and second floors; acanthus capitals
support a projecting cornice. Canted bay of late C19 to the
first floor. The second floor has a projecting sill and
floating cornice supported by a pair of console brackets.
Parapet across the top. Sashes of original design to first
floor of No.21, 8 x 8; second floor has 8 pane French doors in
the opening, and an 8-pane transom with margin glazing. The
second-floor window of No.22 has 3 x 3 sashes with margin
lights to sides and top of top sash.
