II
Field barn. Circa mid C19; for the Ashwicke Hall estate. Limestone rubble with freestone dressings. Gable-ended roof re-clad in corrugated asbestos sheets.
PLAN: Large 7-bay field barn with midstreys on either side to central threshing bay.
EXTERIOR: Large gabled midstrey at centre of east and west sides, with ventilation slits to left and right; east side has small doorway on right; ventilation slits in gable ends, south gable end has small loading doorway high up in wall with cambered arch stone frame.
INTERIOR: Midstrey inner doorways have large dressed stone arches; the west midstrey has blocked arch openings in side walls. 7-bay roof with tie-beam and collar trusses, the two centre trusses have lower collars instead of tie-beams; collars halved and bolted to principals, two tiers of tenoned purlins, diagonal ridgepiece, long straight wind-braces and common-rafters intact; midstrey roof also intact. Grafiti carved into quoins of cartways.
