Churchyard monument. Tomb to Captain George Vancouver, died 1798. Portland stone arched head and foot stone, set within replaced stone kerb. Headstone inscribed: Captain George Vancouver Died in the Year 1798 Aged 40. Foot stone bears inscription: Restored by the Native Sons of British Columbia Post No.2 (Canada) Maintained by the Late Major J.S. Matthews and the City of Vancouver B.C. (Canada). Listed for its historical associations with George Vancouver, maritime explorer. Wall monument in church, erected 1841 by Hudson's Bay Company provides fuller eulogy. (Catalogue No. 601).
