GV II
Outbuilding, possibly stables. Circa late C17 or early C18; altered and extended later in C18 or early C19. Coursed and dressed blue lias. Clay pantile roof with Hamstone coping to gable end. Stone rubble stack at north end.
PLAN: Long range with loft; in the C18 or C19 the north end was partitioned from the rest of the building to form what was probably a bakehouse with a gable-end fireplace and a stable extension was built at the south end and outshuts were added at the rear [W].
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical east front ; C19 2-light casements with glazing bars on right, loft window with chamfered 2-light frame to right of centre, plank door with loft opening above at centre, and two cart entrances on left; later stable extension set back on left. At north end a re-used timber 2-light window with cusped heads to lights. At rear [W] lean-to outshuts.
INTERIOR: Chamfered floor beams with stops. 7-bay roof structure, the trusses with halved dovetail lapped collars and two tiers of tenoned purlins. The north end partitioned off to form what was possibly a bakehouse with a fireplace in the gable end stack with an unchamfered timber bressumer and possibly a smoking chamber. Stable addition at south end has simple wooden loose-boxes.
