Terraced houses. c1855. Stucco, roof obscured by parapet.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, 3-window range. The group
form a single, shallow convex curve with the outer bays of Nos
1 and 3 set back a little. Ground floor decorated with
chamfered rustication. Flat-arched porch with pilasters and
entablature, the entrances to Nos 1 and 3 recessed; overlights
and panelled doors of original design.
All windows flat-arched. First-floor windows to Nos 1 and 3
have segmental pediment over 2 inner windows; outer window to
No.1 has balustrade below the sill; that to No.3 has no
balustrade but retains its moulded stucco architrave and
cornice; first-floor windows to No.2 have pediment to centre
and cornices to outer windows; bracketed balconies with
cast-iron railings to all but outer windows of Nos 1 and 3;
second-floor windows have no architrave, and 3/6 sashes of
original design; modillion cornice and parapet; stacks to
party walls.
Return to No.1 in Clifton Hill is of 4-window range: chamfered
rustication to ground floor; flat-arched entrance; shallow,
segmental 3-storey bay of 2-window range to east; first-floor
windows have moulded stucco architrave and cornice, the
westernmost blank; second-floor windows have moulded stucco
architrave, the westernmost blank; modillion cornice and
parapet continue from Montpelier Place.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Square stuccoed corniced gate piers, partly altered, with
cast-iron railings between.
