Terraced houses. c1825. Probably designed by Amon Wilds and
Charles Augustin Busby. Stucco. Roof obscured by parapet.
3 storeys over basement. 2 windows each. Stairs up to
flat-arched entrances with overlight, framed by fluted Tuscan
pilasters with a 6-pointed star in the capitals and
entablature. To right full-height bays, that on No.40 is
segmental on the ground floor and canted above, and on No.41
segmental; tripartite windows. All windows flat arched, those
to No.41 with sashes of original design. Flanking each bay are
fluted pilasters, the capitals much altered, rising from first
through second floors. Above entrance is a flat-arched window
with floating cornice and projecting sill. Stacks to party
walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to stairs and areas.
