Terraced houses. c1825. Stucco, roofs of tile to Nos 22-23 and
28, otherwise of asbestos slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, 2-window range. The houses
are grouped in pairs with the outer bay set back behind a
single-storey porch, except for No.22 which is of 2-window
range and not set back. Flat-arched entrance with overlight,
and cornice and blocking course above, lacking on No.24. All
windows flat-arched. The ground floor has French windows
framed by a tripartite porch without any mouldings, except for
a minimal cornice on Nos 22-23 and 26-27; the porch carries
cast-iron railings to form a first-floor balcony; first-floor
windows have cornice on consoles except to No.22; sashes of
original design to all third floors except Nos 25, 27 and 28;
bracketed eaves; hipped roofs; stacks to party walls. Low
stuccoed and corniced walls between front gardens and
pavement; No.23-24 has corniced gate piers; Nos 25-26, 27-28
and 29 have paired and corniced flat arches forming gateways,
possibly reconstructed. On the return facing into Norfolk
Square, No.29 has a flat-arched unmoulded arcade as a porch,
scattered fenestration and a 4-storey extension to the east.
