Terraced houses, built in the early C19 as a pair but since
altered and converted into offices and shops. Stucco. Roof of
No.24 obscured by parapet, that of No.25 of slate.
EXTERIOR: No.24 five storeys over half basement; No.25 four
storeys and dormers over half basement. 2 windows each. Stairs
up to flat-arched entrance of No.25. Round-arched entrance to
No.24 with fanlight of decorative glazing bars; this set under
prostyle porch comprised of a pair of columns of the Composite
order, supporting a stilted segmental diaphragm arch and
entablature of the late C19. To right of each entrance canted
bays, which have been much altered on the basement and ground
floors in the C20; bay to No.24 rises to third floor, that to
No.25 is full-height; both have tripartite, flat-arched
windows with projecting sills. To the left of bay and above
the entrance one window to each floor; 4th floor of No.24 has
2 windows with 3 x 6 sashes of original design. Entablature
band and parapet to No.24; cornice and parapet to No.25
severely damaged. 2 dormers to No.25, the left segmental
arched, the right flat arched. Storey bands to No.25 between
first and second, and second and third floors. First-floor
balcony to both, No.24 with cast-iron railings. Stacks to
party walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Nos 20-31 (qv) form a group.
