Terraced house. Early C19, restored in 1985. Stucco. Roof
obscured by blocking course.
EXTERIOR: 5 storeys over half basement. 2-window range. Stairs
up to flat-arched entrance; the overlight has decorative
glazing bars; jambs are panelled. Entrance framed by Tuscan
pilasters supporting entablature blocks and a pediment
consisting of raking dentil cornices only; the mouldings
comprising this cornice are very finely detailed. To the right
of the entrance is a full-height segmental bay with
tripartite, flat-arched windows; sashes of original design to:
basement, 3 x 6 centre and 2 x 4 sidelights, ground, second,
third and 4th floors, 6 x 6 centre and 4 x 4 sidelights, and
first floor, 9 x 9 centre and 6 x 6 sidelights. First-floor
balcony with cast-iron railings to bay only. To the left of
the bay and above door, one flat-arched window with projecting
sill to each floor; sashes of original design to first floor,
9 x 9, and second through 4th floors, 6 x 6. The top storey
together with its windows is shorter than the rest, suggesting
an attic. The unit is topped by an entablature. Stacks to
party walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to stairs and area.
Nos 20-31 (qv) form a group.
