Terraced houses. c1850, No.24 said to be of later date than
the others. Stucco, roofs of slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, plus dormers, 3 window
range. The house fronts consist of a full-height and almost
full-width segmental bay. Ground floor decorated with banded
rustication. Flat-arched porch with pilasters and entablature,
the capitals decorated with small discs; doorcase with
overlight.
All windows flat-arched. First-floor windows have architraves,
pediment over central window and floating cornices over the
others; continuous bracketed balcony to first floor with
cast-iron railings; storey band; second-floor windows
architraved; dentil cornice and parapet; dormers in mansard
roof to Nos 15-17 and 20-24; stacks to party walls.
Individual variations are: No.14 has a return with flat-arched
entrance detailed as for the other houses and individual
cast-iron balconies to outer first-floor windows; No.24 has
central windows to Powis Square blank on all floors; return in
Powis Road of 5-window range: flat-arched entrance with
pilasters and entablature, 2 canted oriels to first and second
floors on the principal part of the house, 2-storey porch wing
to south.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Cast-iron railings to steps and area with spearhead finials.
Powis Square is laid out in the shape of a U, split in half at
the curve.
