SP16NW TAP'S GREEN 652-1/5/212 Grange Farmhouse

Farmhouse, now house. Probably later C17 with refronting late C18 and later additions and renovations including those of c1960-80. Timber-framed with painted brick front facade and gabled plain-tile roof, partly renewed, 3-cell, lobby-entrance plan.

EXTERIOR: one-and-half storeys, 3 roof dormers. Off-centre right entrance: plank door replaced under C19 gabled porch. 3 3-light C20 windows under elliptical arches. Modillion eaves band. 3 roof dormers with C20 windows. Left end and ridge stack. On the left gable end there is a C20 glazed door.

INTERIOR: central room has inglenook fireplace now converted w1th early C20 cupboards and range, mass1ve sp1ne beam with end stops; room to right has inglenook with bressumer beam, now infilled, chamfered spine beam. Winder staircase to side of stack. First floor has fairly extensive exposed square panels of timber-framing to partition walls; exposed rough-hewn purlins.
