Terraced houses, now flats, early C19. Shops, added in c1840.
Stucco. Roof obscured by blocking course.
3 storeys over basement. 4-window range across the block which
may have been built as a pair of houses and are parallel to
Nile Street to the north; the single storey shop fronts are
built along a different axis following the line of the street.
The tall block will be described as one unit. First-floor,
floor-to-ceiling windows with sashes of an original 6 x 9
design. The windows in the right-hand range are blocked as is
the second-floor window in the second-window range. Storey
band between the first and second floors. Projecting cornice
continuous across the top of block. Single-storey shop fronts
originally framed by Tuscan pilasters. These have been much
damaged, that to No.21A being the most intact.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The range forms a group with Nos 2-8 Prince Albert Street
(qv).
