Terraced houses, now flats and shops. Early C19, shop fronts
of C20. Stucco. Mansard roofs of Nos 1 and 4 of slate, the
roofs to Nos 2 and 3 obscured by blocking course.
EXTERIOR: centre units, Nos 2 and 3, three storeys and attic;
end units are 3 storeys and dormers. One window each. The
terrace is treated as a single composition,the centre units
rising higher than the ends, with pilasters originally to all
party and end walls, extending into attic and terminating in
finials in the shape of antefixae. The first floor of each
unit has a segmental bay with tripartite windows, the roof a
semidome. All windows are flat arched. 2 windows to second
floor of each and the attic storeys, these with projecting
sills. At party and end walls giant pilaster strips to first
and second floors. Their original design: recessed vertical
panel topped by block capital decorated with a wreath; these
strips to No.2 are much altered; the pilasters extend into
attic; the pilaster between Nos 3 and 4 is fluted. Each end
unit is topped by a balustrade which stands in front of 2
flat-arched dormers. Sashes of original design to first-floor
bay of all but No.4: 9 x 9 to centre and 6 x 6 to sides; to
second and attic floors of No.3, 6 x 6 and 3 x 3 respectively.
Entablature band with projecting cornice continuous over all
units. Evidence of extensive subsidence in No.2: upper floors
are partly caved-in and sinking; plate and ties inserted in
party wall of No.3. Stacks to party and end walls.
