Houses, now shops. C18, shop front of early C19. Flint in
pitch with painted brick dressings. Roof of tile.
2 storeys and dormer over basement. 2 windows each. The C19
shop front to the ground floor was restored not long before
the time of writing: entrances to shops are framed at the
centre of the pair; Tuscan pilasters frame the entire front
and there is an entablature across the 2. The first-floor
windows are segmental-arched with brick sills, jambs and
lintels. The brick quoin strips to right wall of No.9 and left
wall of No.10 frame the pair and set them off from the rest of
the structures in Union Street, most of which were built
later. Brick dentil cornice to eaves. One flat-arched dormer
to each. INTERIOR: not inspected.
