Terraced house. c1815, altered and extended in late C19 or
early C20. Stucco. Roof of slate.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and dormer over half basement. One-window
range, 3- on left return. Banded rustication to the ground
floor and half basement. There is a full-height segmental bay
of 2 flat-arched windows to the street; the sashes and stained
glass, including those in the half-basement window, are of
late C19 or early C20 date. On return, steps up to
segmental-arched entrance set under 2 storey porch; entrance
has side- and overlights; door and sashes date from the late
C19 or early C20, and have stained glass in floral patterns
similar to those on the main elevation. At the ground floor
the porch is supported by a pair of late C19 columns with
entablature. The first floor of the balcony is enclosed by C20
cast-iron railings; cast-iron colonnettes support the second
floor balcony. To the right of entry, rising through the
2-storey porch to the second floor, is a bay with tripartite
windows; bay is canted to the ground floor and segmental
above. All windows are flat arched. Sashes of original design
in first floor of bay and in the ground floor to the left of
the entry. Projecting eaves bow out on left return over the
full-height bay. 3 gabled dormers with flat-arched windows to
the left return. Stacks to party wall.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Railings to stair and entry porch.
No.15, Nos 17-18 and Nos 20-26 (qv) form a group.
