Villa. c1848-1856 with later additions and alterations
including extension to rear. Pinkish-yellow brick with painted
stucco front facade with Welsh slate roof and cast-iron
verandah. Central hallway plan.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Plinth, alternately
rusticated quoins.
Central entrance: 2 roll-edged steps to part-panelled,
part-glazed door with cambered overlight in plain reveals and
with alternately vermiculated Gibbs surround. 1/1 windows with
margin-lights, in plain reveals, with sills and tooled
surrounds throughout, those to ground floor are larger in
plain reveals. Continuous first-floor sill band projects below
windows. Modillion eaves cornice, wide eaves. Hipped roof, end
stacks.
INTERIOR: 4-panel doors, marble fireplaces (some replaced),
openwell staircase has elongated-onion-on-bobbin balusters.
Forms an architectural group with Nos 12, 14, 16 and 20-26
(even) Avenue Road (qqv).
