House. c1836-1850. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco
front facade and Welsh slate roof. Central hallway plan.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Chamfered plinth, quoins to
angles. Entrance: 4-panel door, the upper panels round-arched,
with round-arched side-lights, continuous overlight with
glazing-bars within round-arched recess, surround of fielded
pilasters surmounted by double-chamfered round arch with
keystone. Outer ground floor bays are canted with 1/1 sashes
throughout. Stepped first-floor band with cornice. 2/2 sashes
with Venetian shutters. Slender brackets to overhanging
cornice. Scalloped roof slates. Tall end stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Beauchamp Avenue was laid out as Beauchamp
Terrace, c1828, most of the north side was built by 1838, with
Beauchamp Square (originally known as Newbold Square) planned
by PF Robinson, architect, of Mayfair c1822-1825.
