House and attached wall. c1828-1834, with later additions and
alterations including those of late C19 to rear. Pinkish-brown
brick in English Garden Wall bond with painted stucco front
facade, Welsh slate roof, cast-iron dressings, lead roof to
porch and verandah.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 2 first-floor-window range, with
single-storey entrance bay recessed to right and screen wall
adjoining. Entrance a 4-panel door, within porch with latticed
pier and tent roof. Frieze, cornice, blocking course. Main
range: ground floor has tall 6/9 sashes with plain reveals.
Continuous verandah has 3 latticed columns, tent roof. First
floor: 6/6 sashes, plain reveals, sills, louvred shutters.
Frieze, cornice, low parapet. End stack.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: screen wall has plank door and low
parapet.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Binswood Avenue was laid out c1828, houses to
west were built before 1834.
Nos 1-29 (odd), Binswood Avenue (qqv) form an architectural
group.
