Villa. Mid C19 with later additions and alterations.
Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facade, Welsh slate
roof and ashlar copings.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, range to left is advanced
and is gabled with ground-floor canted bay. Chamfered plinth.
3 roll-edged steps to central entrance, a 6-panel door with
overlight and sidelights within chamfered, segmental-arched
opening with moulded hood with face stops. 1/1 sashes
throughout with sills and chamfered surrounds, those except
bay have hoodmoulds with face stops. Canted bay is embattled.
Decorative first-floor band. Eaves cornice. To front gable a
decorative quatrefoil in recessed, chamfered square niche.
Pinnacle to apex. Fleur-de-lys ridge tiles. End stacks.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Binswood Avenue laid out c1828.
Nos 50-60 (even) Binswood Avenue (qqv) together with No.8
Kenilworth Road (qv) and No.3 Arlington Avenue (qv) form an
architectural group.
