House, now offices. 1836-1837 with later alterations including
those of c1970. By William Startin. Pinkish-brown brick with
painted stucco facade and Welsh slate roof.
3 storeys with basement, 2 first-floor windows. First-floor
band surmounted by giant pilasters through first and second
floors, frieze, cornice, low parapet. First floor has 10-pane
casement windows with margin-lights in tooled, eared
architraves. Second floor has 6/6 sashes. Ground floor,
entrance to right a late C20 door, within pilastered surround
with frieze and cornice. To left a tripartite window, 6/6
between 2/2 sashes. Basement has C20 door. To rear a tall 6/6
staircase sash with radial glazing to head and margin-lights.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: built as part of left-hand block of proposed
Arbenie Crescent. Clarendon Place was laid out in 1825.
