Hotel. c1820 with later alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with
painted stucco facades and Welsh slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic to pediment, 3 first-floor
windows. Central hallway plan. Plinth.
First floor: 6/6 sashes with blind boxes. Frieze, cornice,
blocking course with central pediment containing 8/8 sash;
pediment and blocking course have copings.
Ground floor: central entrance, 3 roll-edged steps to
6-fielded-panel door with overlight with glazing-bars in
fielded-panel reveals, doorcase has Tuscan pilasters with
frieze, cornice and blocking course. Outer bays have 8/8
sashes. All windows have plain reveals and tooled architraves
and sills. 2 end and ridge stacks with cornices, replaced to
right.
Left return: 2 storeys with attic, 2 first-floor windows.
Full-height canted bay to right. First floor: 6/6 sash, bay
has centre an 8/8 sash between 2/2 sashes and with fielded
pilasters, pilasters, frieze and cornice. Frieze, cornice and
blocking course with central pediment to gable; pediment
contains 6/3 fixed-light window. Ground floor, to left a 6/6
sash; to bay are 1/1 sashes with pilasters between, frieze and
cornice. Sashes (except to bays) have plain reveals, tooled
architraves and sills.
INTERIOR: original plasterwork and joinery includes dogleg
staircase with wreathed handrail and stick balusters.
