House and attached railings. 1828-1834, with later additions
and alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with concealed roof and
cast-iron railings.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 2 first-floor windows. First-floor band
interrupted by windows supports Tuscan pilasters to ends. Two
12-pane French windows with plain reveals. Double frieze,
cornice. Second floor: two 3/6 sashes with sills and plain
reveals. Low parapet, copings. Ground floor, entrance: 3
roll-edged steps to 3-panel door the lower panel roll-moulded,
with divided overlight and fielded-panel reveals. Doorcase has
fielded pilasters, frieze, cornice. 1/1 sash with sill and in
plain reveals. Basement has part-glazed door and 4/8 sash.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings and gate have bars with
lozenge finials.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Grove Street was laid out in 1828, the west
side and lower part of the east side were built by 1834.
Nos 14-46 (even) Grove Street (qv) and No.5 Regent Street (qv)
constitute an architectural group.
