Villa, now flats. Mid C19 with later additions and alterations
including extension to rear. Pinkish-brown brick with painted
stucco front facade; Welsh slate roof.
2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. Alternately rusticated
quoins. Plinth. Outer bays to full height. Horizontal
rustication to ground floor. First-floor band surmounted by
blind balustrade. 1/1 sashes throughout, all with horns, in
plain reveals and with moulded sills; those to ground floor
with rusticated keystones, those to first floor with tooled
surrounds, the central first-floor window is round-arched.
Central entrance: 4 roll-edged steps to 4-panel door with
sidelights and cambered overlight, with cavetto-moulded
surround and rusticated keystone. Modillion cornice. Tall end
and roof stacks with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Kenilworth Road was laid out 1834-8.
Nos 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 36, 38 and 46 (qqv) form an
architectural group of villas.
