House. c1836. Reddish-brown brick with painted stucco facades
and Welsh slate roof. Main facade to Willes Road.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, the entrance bay,
to right, is set back.
First floor: moulded sill band; two 6/6 sashes in plain
reveals and with blind boxes; 2/2 sash in plain reveals to
right.
Ground floor: entrance, a 4-panel door with panelled overlight
within surround of Doric pilasters with frieze, cornice and
blocking course. From left: a canted bay of 2/2 sash between
1/1 sashes, cornice, blocking course; 6/6 sash in plain
reveals with sill and tooled architrave and with blind box.
To returns: first floor: two 6/6 sashes in plain reveals;
ground floor: 6/6 sash in plain reveals with sill and tooled
architrave, 4-long-pane window with margin-lights, 6/6 sash in
plain reveals. Continuous frieze, cornice, low parapet.
Half-hipped roof. Tall end and roof stacks with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Leam Terrace was laid out c1828-1836, both
sides as far as Willes Road were almost completely built by
1841.
Occupies an important corner site and forms an architectural
group with Nos 63, 65 and 67 Willes Road (qv) and Nos 51, 53
and 55 Leam Terrace (qv).
