Newbold Tavern
GV II
Public house. c1826-1830. Pinkish-brown brick with painted
stucco facade and slate roof. Parapeted gable end to front and
rear. Double-depth rectangular plan with central entrance and
two front rooms.
3 storeys with attic, 3 first-floor windows. First and second
floors have 6/6 sashes; 3/6 sash to attic in gable. Ground
floor: tripartite sashes. Central entrance with panelled door
within porch with Tuscan columns, entablature canopy. Left
(south-east) return has sashes on left and doorway on right.
Rear: 6/6 sashes to second floor and 3/6 sash to attic. End
stacks, truncated to left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Newbold Street was laid out in 1826.
