2 houses, now shops with storage over. c1810-1818, with later
alterations including those of mid-C20 to ground floor and
shop front. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond with ashlar
dressings and concealed roof.
4 storeys, 4 first-floor windows, arranged 2:2. First floor:
tall 6/6 sashes; second floor: continuous sill band, 6/6
sashes; third floor: 3/3 sashes with sills; all in plain
reveals and with flat arches of gauged brick. Tall ridge and
right end stacks with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the Parade was so-named in 1860. Originally
called Lillington Lane, it was renamed Union Row c1809. The
lower section was laid out c1810-1814, with most building
activity c1810-1818. Built as houses, hotels and
lodging-houses, by 1850 most had become shops. The original
buildings were brick fronted.
