Bandstand. Late C19 with later repairs. Commissioned by
William de Normanville, Borough Engineer and Surveyor of
Leamington (1882-1917). Sandstone, concrete, cast-iron and
timber with lead roof. Octagonal on plan. Stepped base with
ovolo-moulded upper stage. 4 steps to entrance between
octagonal piers with ball finials. Close lattice-and-circle
motif balustrade, shaped handrail, interrupted at angles by
slender piers with acanthus capitals, and with cornice for
awnings at capital level. Capitals support decorative
consoles, frieze and tent canopy with low overhang. From the
edge of the canopy at alternate piers hang 4 swan-necked
lamps. Central pole surmounted by finial with splayed and
fluted base, ball and spire.
