Terrace of probably 5 houses, now shops with flats over, much
divided and altered to ground floor. c1810-1820 with later
additions and alterations including mid-late C20 ground-floor
shop fronts. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco front
facades, cement-tile roof to left (No.63), otherwise Welsh
slate and concealed roofs.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic dormers to Nos 67, 69, 73 and
75; 9 first-floor openings arranged 1:2:3:2:1. End and centre
projections to first and second floors. Projections have end
pilasters, those to left are Tuscan, otherwise Composite.
Continuous frieze, architrave, cornice and low parapet. First
floor: 6/6 sashes throughout, all in plain reveals; sills
except to first window; tooled architraves throughout; 1st,
4th, 6th and 9th windows have cornices on acanthus consoles;
5th (central) window has triangular pediment on acanthus
consoles. Ground floor has glazed entrances to glazed shop
fronts. Attics have casement windows. Roof hipped to left.
Tall ridge stacks with cornices to right of Nos 63, 67, 71 and
75.
Left return of 3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. First floor
has 6/6 sashes; second floor has 3/6 sashes, all in plain
reveals, with sills and with cambered arches.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Regent Street, originally known as Cross
Street until the visit of Prince Regent in 1819, was laid out
c1808-1814 as one of the first 'New Town' streets.
Forms a group with No.79 Regent Street (qv).
